Ampthill &
Flitwick
Dramatic Society
We have members of all ages and skills, and the chance for people to
try all aspects of "putting on a show"!
Acting
Fancy walking the boards? The highly visible face of the society.
Set
construction
A very important part of the society. Everything from carpentry to
painting and decorating and working out how to take the ideas of the
director and turn them into something that can appear on our stage.
We've built everything from bookcases to coffins, designed market
barrows and fake fireplaces.
Production
The Production Manager ensures that all the "non-artistic" parts of a
show are co-ordinated. Do we have people for all the work we need to
do? have we booked rehearsal space?
Front
of House
Looking after the audience, greeting them, selling programmes and
running the bar, teas and coffee.
Directing
Working out how to turn the words of the playwright into reality on the
stage.
Sound
Everything from a little light music to the sounds of a storm and
ringing telephones.
Lighting
Both designing the lighting plans and effects and operating them on the
night.
Props
Obtaining all the strange items (such as tin baths and garlic flowers!)
that will be needed for a show. Then co-ordinating them on the night
Stage
Manager
Running the show from the Dress Rehearsal, ensuring that all that is
planned actually happens.
Marketing
and Publicity
Promoting the shows and ensuring that we have an audience for our
endevours.
